For tennis fans who had been waiting for the ticket for the Davis Cup Asia Oceania tie between India and New Zealand, the wait just got longer. Since the State Bank of Patiala branches were closed on Sunday, they were eagerly waiting for Monday morning. But on reaching the bank, they faced huge disappointment as the bank officials told them they had no clue on sales of the tickets.
I had gone to the SBoP branch at Phase VII,Mohali,to purchase tickets. On reaching,I was told by the person sitting at the counter that they had no clue about the tickets. There was no information available to them. I had seen waiting for the sales to begin since a month ago. I went to other branches of the bank but I met with the same fate. I am very disappointed, said Navdeep Singh of Mohali.
Prashant Sharma had gone to the Sector 17 branch to buy the tickets but had to return empty handed. My friend had called from Delhi and asked me to buy tickets for his family members. So I went to the Sector 17 branch. I got the shock of my life when I was told they had no idea about sales of the ticket. I also met the manager, but she also said there was no information about the sales of the ticket at their disposal.
LK Sobti,a bank official, told Newsline,As per the information available to me,we have not received any tickets for sale.
When officials of Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) which is hosting the Davis Cup match after a gap of 19 years, were contacted, they said that tickets would be available for sale at the bank branches from September 4. Since there was function regarding the sales of ticket on September 1 and Sunday the following day,we could distribute the tickets and due to that there was no circulation of tickets at the various branches of the bank. We have distributed the tickets today and we will send officials to check and ensure that tickets are available at all the branches in the Tricity, shared Jagjit Puri,a spokesperson of CLTA.
CLTA and SBoP top officials had earlier announced that tickets would go on sale for September 1.
