SP delegation meets UT DC
A delegation of Bahujan Samaj Party met the UT Deputy Commissioner Mohd Shayin and submitted a memorandum with a list of demands. The delegation demanded two-room flats be allotted instead of one-room tenements and better facilities at the houses being constructed under the rehabilitation scheme.
PU entrance test for MPhil,PhD on July 27
The entrance test for the MPhil and PhD programmes of Panjab University (PU) will now be held on July 27. PU Controller of Examination Dr Parvinder Singh said that the date has been changed on the request of the students as it coincided with the Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET).
40-yr-old found dead
The body of a 40-year-old was found in Sector 25 near a vacant army cantonment. The deceased,identified as Anoop Singh,is a resident of Maloya Village. The deceased was a drug addict and had been missing from his home for the past four days.

Railways employee held in graft case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Tuesday arrested Bhupinder Singh,an assistant engineer of Railways while allegedly accepting Rs 2,000 as bribe from a contractor at the DRM office premises Ambala Cantonment. The contractor who alleged that Singh was harassing him and was pressing him to pay Rs 1,000 to clear each of his bills.
Bridge collapses,10 trains cancelled
Ten trains reportedly remained cancelled on the second day after a bridge between Sarsawa and Kalanaur on Ambala-Saharanpur was washed away in the Yamuna river floods on Monday. Many trains have been diverted to Ambala-Delhi route. The Railway authorities had claimed that the rail traffic would be restored on Tuesday after repairing the damaged track.
