Chandigarh receives 9% less than normal rainfall in July

While the rainfall was less than normal, it was more in comparison to the last two years in Chandigarh.

The city received 9 per cent less than normal rainfall in July this year. A total of 257.9 mm rainfall was recorded against a normal of 282.4 mm.

While the rainfall was less than normal, it was more in comparison to the last two years. In 2014, the city received 155.4 mm rainfall and in 2013, the rainfall recorded in July was 214.5 mm.

Further, as per the weather department, the total seasonal rainfall for Chandigarh from June 1 to July 31 is 321.8 mm, which is 20 per cent less than normal and falls under deficient category.

On Friday, the maximum temperature recorded was 32.8 degrees Celsius, which was normal.

The minimum temperature was 27.2 degrees Celsius and it was three degrees above normal. Rain showers were also received in the evening.

The weather department has predicted generally cloudy sky and possibility of rain and thundershowers for the next three days.

Further, in July Haryana received 125.7 mm rainfall against its normal supply of 163.8 mm, which is 23 per cent less than normal. The total seasonal rainfall for the state of Haryana this month is 169.1 mm, which is 19 per cent less than normal. Similarly, Punjab received 130.2 mm rainfall against its normal of 185.9 mm, which is 30 per cent less than normal.
