Online fraudsters pose as RBI governor

CHANDIGARH: Online fraudsters have devised a new modus operandi to dupe gullible netizens,by sending emails,purportedly from none other than the Reserve Bank of India. Going a step further,not only the names of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and RBI Governor D Subbarao are being used in the mails,purportedly being sent as ‘payment notification’,released by the RBI; but going a step further,the mails also carry D Subbarao’s picture adding to their ‘authenticity’. In return,the ‘target’ is asked to furnish all his personal and financial details and deposit a sum of few thousands rupees initially to avail a bounty of thousands of US Dollars. p3

‘Favouritism harms judiciary’

CHANDIGARH: Former justice of Islamabad High Court and a member of Bar council of Pakistan Chaudhary Mohammad Ramzan says “it was very unfortunate that judges in both countries are not deployed on the basis of merit and there is an element of favouritism involved. In both countries,relatives are being favoured. A judge should be selected on the basis of their judicial experience and seniority”.

24-year-old student commits suicide

CHANDIGARH: A 24-year-old engineering student committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Sector 34 on Sunday morning. The deceased has been identified as Ranchit Goel. He was reportedly suffering from depression. Ranchit was doing engineering from Shaheed Udham Singh College of Engineering and Technology,Tangori.
