With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning the maximum number of seats in Madhya Pradesh,Rajasthan,Chattisgarh and New Delhi,waves of joy were seen in Panchkula with revellers celebrating the party’s win.

With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning the maximum number of seats in Madhya Pradesh,Rajasthan,Chattisgarh and New Delhi,waves of joy were seen in Panchkula with revellers celebrating the party’s win.

“BJP’s lead is a big dent in the Congress image. The same will be repeated in Haryana and in 2014. The Indian National Congress has kept the state’s farmers unhappy,no industry is ready to come here. The people are fed up with the wrongdoings of the Congress and wants the BJP,both in the state and centre,” said an enthralled Vishal Seth,district BJP President,Panchkula.

While his fellow partymen burst crackers outside the Sector 2 BJP office,slogans praising BJP’s prime minister candidate Narendra Modi were also being raised. “The lead in the four states is a clear sign of BJP winning the Lok Sabha elections as well. The party’s win is also attributed to Modi’s charismatic leadership which will wash out other parties in the elections as well,” said Vikas Paul,district spokesperson.

Former Haryana BJP president R L Kataria was also among the revellers present.

Poll results sign of BJP rise: Tandon

Chandigarh: Bharatiya Janata Party’s city unit celebrated at several places after results of the Assembly elections were announced. With the Congress being routed in several places,BJP workers rejoiced in the victory. They danced to dhol beats and distributed sweets at the Sector 33 BJP office. Celebrations were witnessed at several other places.

President of BJP’s city unit Sanjay Tandon said the results were a sign of BJP and Narendra Modi’s rise and reflected the frustration of the people. He said the verdict was a sign of what was in store for the Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile,senior party leader Satya Pal Jain said the countdown for the ouster of the Congress from the Centre had started. “Hats off to the people of Rajasthan,MP,Chhatisgarh and Delhi for the verdict. In the coming Lok Sabha elections,the Congress would be wiped out,” said Jain.

However,Aarti Mehra,incharge of the BJP unit who was also contesting the polls,was defeated. Members of BJP’s city unit,including Tandon had campaigned for her.

Mayor awards winners at Chrysanthemum Show

Chandigarh: Mayor Subhash Chawla distributed prizes to winners of various competitions in the Chrysanthemum show,organised by the municipal corporation,on Sunday at the Terraced Garden in Sector 33.

Gardeners and participants in the show had made animal topiaires including that of a camel,peacock,cow,giraffe,lion and many other animals.

As many as 253 varieties of Chrysanthemum were on display at the three-day show,where school children presented a cultural programme.

Golden Bells School celebrates annual cultural programme

Mohali: Golden Bells Public School,Sector 77,held its annual cultural programme and prize distribution function on Sunday. Puneet Goyal,Additional Deputy Commissioner,Mohali inaugurated the event by releasing pigeons and tri-colour balloons. A variety of cultural items,including songs and dance,were presented. The annual report of the school was presented by principal Anjali Chaudhry,which gave a glimpse of the school’s performance and achievements during the session 2012-13. Also,prizes and scholarships were awarded to meritorious Goldenites,while the award for ‘Teacher of the Year’ was given to Arjinder Kaur. Chairman Col C S Bawa (Retd.) extended his gratitude to the parents for their co-operation and suggestions. The function concluded with the National Anthem.
