A case under appropriate sections of the IPC has been registered against the accused at Sector 39 police station.

Three held for stabbing youth,another accused at large

The Chandigarh Police arrested three youths for allegedly stabbing a salesman at a liquor shop in Sector 40-C after he asked for payment of the liquor which was forcibly taken away by the accused. Paramjit Singh,Gagandeep Singh and Satnam Singh were arrested after being nabbed by other staff members working at the liquor shop. However,the fourth accused,identified as Lala,managed to escape. A case under appropriate sections of the IPC has been registered against the accused at Sector 39 police station.

Man held for snatching cop’s wallet

The Chandigarh Police on Saturday arrested a youth who tried to flee away after allegedly snatching the wallet of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable posted at Hallo Majra. The accused,identified as Naveen Kumar,was nabbed by the public and the constable. However,Naveen’s accomplice,identified as Vinod,managed to flee from the spot. A case of theft,criminal force in attempt to commit theft and of dishonestly receiving stolen property has been registered against the accused. The police have sought two days custody of Naveen from a local court to identify any similar crimes carried out by him in the past.

Issues related to the rights of the senior citizens and female foeticide along with the problem of AIDS were taken up and discussed during the National Legal Service Day celebration held on November 9 at Government Model Senior Secondary School Sector 10,Chandigarh. ENS
