Chandigarh: The Centre for Police Administration at Panjab University is getting popular among aspirants for the police force and the allied services if the number of students opting for the courses is anything to go by. From eleven in 2007,when the course was introduced,the student strength has increased to 50 this year.

Pinjore-Parwanoo traffic menace: HC committee to find measures

Chandigarh: In view of the increasing traffic congestion from Pinjore to the Parwanoo barrier,the Punjab and Haryana High Court has constituted a committee of five officials to convene a meeting and come up with a solution. The committee comprises Deputy Commissioner,Panchkula; Superintendent of Police,Panchkula; Project Director of NHAI; and Secretaries,Municipal Committees of Pinjore and Kalka.

‘UT needs support of neighbours to retain its character’

Chandigarh: The UT Administration has blamed the neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana for not offering support and coordination in preserving the basic character of the city. During the resumed hearing of a PIL concerning preparation of a masterplan for Chandigarh,Advocate Sanjay Kaushal,senior standing counsel for UT Administration,contended that “in the absence of able and unconditioned support of the neighbouring states,the city’s character will be put at stake”.
