Two former mayors and the present mayor of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation received threat calls from a person,who identified himself as Om Prakash Saini,a notorious gangster involved in many extortion and contract killing cases,this evening.

While the UT police did not divulge any details given the sensitivity of the matter,sources said the three received threatening calls sometime between 5 pm and 6 pm.

Saini first called former mayor Pradeep Chhabra,who did not take the call as he was busy in a meeting.

A source close to Chhabra confirmed the incident. Later,Saini called former mayor Kamlesh

Kumari from the same number and told her he was speaking from the Ambala Jail.

He asked her to do some work regarding his shooter Pathan,it was learnt.

When,however,she explained that she was no longer the mayor,Saini called Mayor Anu Chatrath from the same number. Threatening Chatrath,Saini asked her to do whatever Pathan wanted to be done.

Speculations are rife that it might be a prank,as the person repeatedly identified himself as Saini.

SP (City and Crime) Madhur Verma said he was not aware of the matter. When Newsline called the number,it was switched off.
