Charges framed against Utsav Sharma

A lower Court on Friday framed charges against Utsav Sharma,the 30 year old,who had attacked former Haryana Director General of Police (DGP),S P S Rathore. Utsav Sharma had attacked Rathore outside the district courts complex on February 8,2010. He was charged under Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt with sharp weapon) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. Utsav was a ‘brilliant’ student of National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad. Peeved over the Ruchika molestation case,Utsav had inflicted injuries on Rathore by attacking him with a pocket knife. Utsav’s mother,who is a psychiatrist and a professor at the Institute of Medical Sciences,BHU,had told that her son was not medically fit. Abnormal circumstances must had forced Utsav to stab Rathore,but it was not expected of him,she had told media stating that Utsav’s act could not be justified.
