Charges framed against Pak spy

A lower court today framed charges against 24-year-old Kashif Ali,a Pakistan spy,and four others who were arrested by the UT Police at Sector 44,Chandigarh,in July 2010. The five against whom charges were framed are Kashif Ali,Gurpinder Singh,Jagdish Kumar,Kulwinder Singh and Anand Kumar.

A lower court today framed charges against 24-year-old Kashif Ali,a Pakistan spy,and four others who were arrested by the UT Police at Sector 44,Chandigarh,in July 2010. The five against whom charges were framed are Kashif Ali,Gurpinder Singh,Jagdish Kumar,Kulwinder Singh and Anand Kumar.

Charges have been framed under Sections 3,5,6 of the Official Secrets Act and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act against Kashif Ali. Besides,charges under Sections 419,467,468,471,120-B of the IPC have been framed against all the five accused,including Kashif.

According to the Chandigarh Police,Ali had been living in a rented accommodation for the last two and a half years and passing information about Indias national security to his handlers in Pakistan. The cops had recovered sensitive information pertaining to national security from Kashif.

The accused was a resident of Zulfiqar Colony in Faislabad,Pakistan,and had been monitoring Indian defence installations.

He gave his name as Pawan Kumar and claimed he was a resident of Pitampura,Delhi,who worked as a hiring agent dealing with property.

But when the police intensified interrogation,he gave in and disclosed his real identity. The police also recovered certain incriminating documents relating to the Indian Army and a digital camera from him.

A day later,the police had arrested Kulwinder Singh,a resident of Sector 66,

Mohali,Gurpinder Singh,a resident of Sector 47-C and Jagdish Kumar,a resident of Phase IV,Mohali for providing Kashif with fake documents including PAN card and voter ID card and passport and helping him to live in India with a fake identity.
