Chandigarh,ROP declared joint winners

Since the first innings of the four-day match between Katoch Shield winners Chandigarh and Rest of Punjab could not be completed,both the teams were declared joint winners at the PCA stadium in Mohali on Sunday.

Resuming from the overnight score of 287 for 4,Rest of Punjab team went on to make 544 for the loss of nine wickets in 90 overs on the concluding day of the match. There were three century makers -Simrat Bawa (158),Sarul Kanwar (121),Vishwas Bhalla (139)-in the Chandigarh first innings,while Rest of Punjab team did not have a single player who got into three figures. Sunny Sohal top scored for Rest of Punjab with a fluent 98,while Gitansh Khera scored an impressive knock of 94. From the Chandigarh team,left-arm spinner Bipul Sharma (4 for 129) and leg-spinner Karanveer Singh (3 for 22),came up with superb bowling performances. Chandigarh had earlier piled on a total of 642 runs in the first innings.
