Top scorer Akash (38) ensured Chandigarh an easy seven-wicket victory over Pune to enter the semi-finals of the 16th All India Chaudhary Ranbir Singh Hooda Under-15 cricket championship,played at the Tau Devi Lal stadium on Saturday.
Batting first after winning the toss,Pune were bundled out for 85 in 24.3 overs. Sagar Arora top scored with 26 runs. Harshit Sharma bowled well to take three wickets. Parshant,Ramesh and Sachin bagged two wickets each for Chandigarh. In reply,Chandigarh reached the target for the loss of three wickets in 10.5 overs. Akash was in terrific form and hit some exquisite boundaries during his superb knock. Apart from Akash,the other contributor for Chandigarh was Ravi kant (23).
In another match,Haryana thrashed Mumbai by eight wickets. Mumbai batted first but were all out for 85 in 20.2 overs. Aman Kumar and Sagar Arora picked up three wickets each to help Haryana bowl out Mumbai cheaply. Haryana replied with 89 for 2 in just 7.4 overs. Sagar Arora hammered 42 runs.
Meanwhile,Bangladesh registered an easy 78-run victory over Himachal Pradesh to enter the last four stage. Batting first,Bangladesh scored 203 for 5 in 25 overs. Kazim Mohammad blasted 81 runs. Himachal were restricted to 125 for 9 in 25 overs. Utkarsh top scored for Himachal with 48 runs.
In the last match,Sri Lanka thrashed Hyderabad by 130 runs to complete the semi-final line-up. Sri Lanka posted 180 runs while batting first. Tharingu top scored with 58 runs. Sai Shankar and Shiva Sai bagged four wickets each for Hyderabad. In reply,Hyderabad were all out for 50 runs in 14 overs. Waeesha,Pawan Dilshara and R Dharamsena bowled well and took three wickets each for Sri Lanka.
