The attackers meanwhile remain at large, and police are currently analysing CCTV footage and the abandoned motorcycle to trace their identities

A midnight incident of violence near Gaushala Chowk, Sector 44-45, left a Volvo bus driver assaulted, a passenger seriously injured, and a Rapido bike rider robbed by three men reportedly dressed in Nihang Sikh attire.
According to police sources, the incident unfolded around 12 am on the intervening night of August 2 and 3, when Lakshay Thapar (33), a Rapido rider from Sector 15, Panchkula, was returning home after work.
According to the FIR lodged at the police station in Sector 49, the trio of Nihang-clad men approached a moving Volvo bus, bearing Himachal Pradesh registration, and forced it to stop by pushing a motorcycle into its path.
Eyewitness Lakshay told police that the moment the bus stopped, the attackers began abusing and assaulting the driver with sticks. When a passenger attempted to intervene, he too was attacked with swords and sticks, sustaining head and hand injuries.
Lakshay, who tried to capture the attack on video, was reportedly threatened by sword-wielding men, and his mobile phone was forcibly snatched. He was also beaten with sticks before the assailants fled the scene, abandoning their black Splendor motorcycle.
The injured passenger, identified as Pardeep Kumar (55), a resident of Anaj Mandi, Kurali, was shifted to the hospital by a PCR team. Lakshay, initially terrified, fled the spot but returned the next morning to lodge a formal complaint.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The attackers meanwhile remain at large, and police are currently analysing CCTV footage and the abandoned motorcycle to trace their identities.
