The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs has issued show-cause notices to three unregistered and one registered immigration (recruiting) agent,all from Chandigarh,for illegally sending youths to foreign shores. While registration certificates of two recruiting agents have earlier been cancelled and suspended,the Ministry has recommended registration of FIRs against the fourth agent,who is unregistered.
The copy of the communication was placed on record by Advocate Onkar Singh Batalvi,counsel for the Central government. Those in trouble are M/s J M Overseas,Chandigarh. Its registration certificate had earlier been cancelled. A fresh show cause notice has been issued on August 16.
Second is M/s Gayatri Travels,Chandigarh. Its registration certificate had earlier been suspended. A fresh show cause notice was issued by the Ministry on August 16. M/s Swastik Travel Service,Chandigarh is the third recruiting agent which is under scanner of the Ministry. A show cause notice has been issued on September 19. Last is Hari Singh,resident of Chandigarh. The Ministry has requested the authorities for registration of an FIR against Hari Singh.
The Ministry has asked the four to explain as to why their bank guarantees shall not be forfeited and stern action be not taken against them. The information was produced in response to an application filed by Advocate Anil Malhotra. He is the amicus curiae in an ongoing petition seeking recovery of Indian Nationals illegally detained in foreign countries.
The communication sent by the Ministry further reads Earlier,Indian Mission at Baghdad reported that there were around 250 workers working in construction company and out of them 28 workers desired their repatriation as they were not satisfied with the work as well as their salaries. The Embassy of India,Baghdad has further reported that temporary accommodation has been arranged for some 90 Indian workers,out of which 42 already returned to India and around 8 have decided to stay back in Iraq and are looking for alternative employment. 17 others have found alternative employment in other locations and are working there.
