Their spirits defying their age,ten students of the first batch of 1961 at Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA) visited their alma mater on its golden jubilee. All have retired from respectable positions but their memories still fresh, they were seen sharing some lighter moments just like the present batch of students at the college.
Our first lecture used to be at 7:50 am sharp. We would wake up at 7:45 and just sneak into the college corridors from the Corbu House (the college hostel) through these window slits, said M R Tayal who retired as Chief Town Planner,Haryana.
Another interesting anecdote shared by Veena Malik, one of the female students of the first batch of 30 was about how the entire batch would push the principals (A R Prabhwalkar) old car from the college porch when it would give in.
Col B K Sodhi (retired),still remembers how once they had given a notice to go on strike which was due to some misunderstanding arising between them and the faculty members. The entire issue was resolved merely by a talk with the principal in his office. Then no one dared to go on a strike, said a laughing Col Sodhi. Still seen pulling each others legs and sharing lighter moments, they all had something in common, respect and fond memories of their teachers who were their role models.
