With board examinations for academic session 2011-12 approaching, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is going to set up its 24-hour helpline in middle of February. The helpline will address the queries of students as well as parents.

As per the officials, the response to the pre-examination helpline has been good over the last couple of years.

Class XII and class X board exams will begin from March 1. This is the 15th consecutive year that CBSE will be providing counselling to students and parents during the entire duration of examinations.

The toll-free number is yet to be declared by the board. Officials said that while general queries will be answered by operators, students will be connected to the principals or counsellors in case of exam-related anxiety or stress.

Multiple modes of communication such as telephonic counselling,question-answer columns in newspapers,Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) and online counselling through CBSE website are usually used to reach out to more examinees.

The helpline will also allow access to information related to schools, fee structure, results as well as syllabus. In case of complaints, the students will be able to register them on the helpline.

CBSE Regional Director R J Khanderao said,“Along with taking assistance via the helpline, the students are also free to visit our office or call us. Their queries will be addressed round-the-clock.”
