* Exhorting people to vote for the RJD,Haffiz Anwar-ul-Haq said: “The Congress’s hand is already bowed,the BJP’s lotus has gone down the drain and the BSP’s elephant is such that it can be killed by a tiny ant. Thus,if you want prosperity in life,vote for the RJD’s lantern.”

* Lalu’s slogan — “Hindu,Muslim,Sikh,Isai (Christian),sabka dushman BhaJPai’ — invoked ear-deafening applause from the crowd.

* Anwar-ul-Haq’s supporters were no less. While managing the stage before Lalu’s arrival,a campaigner announced: “The three veterans Bansal,Jain and Dhawan must retire now as they have crossed 60 years of age while Haffiz is 32 years old. Hafiz will get their pensions started while they sit at home.”

* Another slogan “If you want to be slapped with your own hand,choose Congress; if you want to get into muck,choose BJP and if you want prosperity,choose RJD” received a thunderous response from the gathering

* Haffiz’s first wife Rehana and mother Nayyaraza did not get to share the dais. In fact,they could barely find seats in the audience either. Seating was hastily arranged after the duo introduced themselves to the policemen on duty. However,Haffiz’s second wife and in-laws were comfortably accommodated on the stage. Rehana’s take on the situation: “There is a difference between the rising and the setting sun.” Well said.
