Brijendra Singh is new Chandigarh DC

Brijendra Singh,1998-batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre,is set to take charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh.

Brijendra Singh,1998-batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre,is set to take charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh. He will assume office sometime later this week from R K Rao,who will be repatriated to his parent cadre — Haryana.

Singh’s name has been cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. The UT Administration had invited names of directly recruited IAS officers from Haryana for the post following which the Haryana government sent a panel comprising three officers —Brijendra Singh,O P Langyan and Ramesh Krishan.

Singh,posted as Deputy Commissioner,Faridabad,at that time,was approved by the UT Administration and recommended to the Government of India for clearance.

According to senior UT Administration officials,Brijendra Singh emerged as the final choice,following which his name was recommended. “Even the Centre must have realised he is the best suited for the post of UT Deputy Commissioner,” said a senior UT official,while speaking to Newsline.
