Punjab trains youth to tackle flood

AMRITSAR: Keeping in view the flood like situation that Punjab faces nearly every other year,the Department of Revenue,Rehabilitation and Disaster Management in association with National Disaster Response Force has trained 30 volunteers in flood rescue training. The training began on August 8 and would conclude on August 14. The trained volunteers will be a part of the district Disaster Response Force.

GNDU declares MA Hindi result

AMRITSAR: The Guru Nanak Dev University on Thursday declared the results of MA (Hindi) Part-I. The results are available on the university website http://www.gndu.ac.in. In another development,the Urdu and Persian departments of the university have announced online admission in all part time certificate,diploma and advanced diploma courses in Urdu and Persian. Bhattal takes on Govt over PRTC loss

Chandigarh: Lending her support to the protesting retired employees of the Punjab Road Transport Corporation (PRTC),Rajinder Kaur Bhattal,leader of the Opposition,on Thursday said that the PRTC had been incurring losses even as private operators are minting money due to the wrong policies of the government. “The situation is so bad that the corporation is finding it difficult to pay gratuity and provident fund to its retired employees. The PRTC coffers are empty because the government had handed over lucrative routes to private operators,” she said.
