Discrepancies in SGPC voters list; Calcutta write to Prime Minister
AMRITSAR: Shiromani Panthic Council head Manjit Singh Calcutta today shot off a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, seeking his intervention in the alleged large scale enrollment of bogus voters for the upcoming general elections of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). He said in the communication that he was constrained to bring to the notice of the PM the extreme misconduct in conducting the elections to the religious body. We have been regularly complaining to the Chairman Gurudwara Election Commission (appointed by Ministry of Home,Government of India) about the erroneous, incomplete voter forms, bogus registration of nearly 36 lakh voters in the last seven days and erroneouspublication and revision, without any correction of electoral rolls.
But all the protest letters fell on deaf ears and no action was taken,,Calcutta complained. The whole process undoubtedly has been tailored to the dictates of the ruling BJP-Akali Dal government in Punjab under the mischievous influence of RSS. It looks Chairman Gurudwara Election Commission is in a tearing hurry to announce the date of election so that the ruling party of Punjab could exercise governmental influence in its favor before the end of its regime, he alleged.
