Deputy CM asks police to not delay release of impounded vehiclesChandigarh: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has ordered the simplification of release of stolen vehicles recovered by the police or seized by it after an accident. He has directed the Director General of Police PS Gill to immediately issue instructions to all police stations to exercise greater discretion for releasing seized property to the general public as longer retention of vehicles/ property by the police was causing great difficulty to the public. He said the police should use the discretion given by amendment in CRPC brought in 2005 to release property that was not considered necessary for the purpose of investigation.
