Amritsar: The agitation by teachers against conversion of Khalsa College Amritsar into a private Khalsa University took a new turn on Friday with the agitation launched by the teachers spreading throughout the state. Thousands of teachers working in the government and non-government colleges and those belonging to Panjab University,Chandigarh,Punjabi University,Patiala,GNDU,Amritsar,PAU and Ludhiana held protest rallies outside the evaluation centers throughout Punjab and Chandigarh.

BJP Kisan Morcha meet on April 23-24

Chandigarh: The two-day national meeting of BJP Kisan Morcha will be held in Chandigarh on April 23 and 24. The party will discuss the proposed Pesticide Management Bill,Biotechnology Authority Bill,National Food Security Bill and land acquisition policies of various state governments, its vice-president Suresh Chandel said in a press statement issued on Friday.

Man kills wife,commits suicide

Sultanpur Lodhi: A middle-aged man killed his wife when she was sleeping on Thursday night and then poisoned himself to death with celphos tablets. Sources said Jarnail Singh of Ratra village in Sultanpur Lodhi had doubts about his wifes Parkash Kaurs fidelity which led to strained relations and frequent fights between them. SHO Parminder Singh of Fattu Dinga police station said Jarnail singh attacked his wife with a sharp edged weapon while she was sleeping and killed her.
