Centre unwilling to unearth black money,says Sukhbir Badal
Ludhiana: Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday rejected the Act proposed by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to bring out the black money and money stashed in Swiss Banks saying that the proposed law was just an eyewash and dilatory tactic to save the skins of Congress leaders. The Deputy CM was on a daylong tour of Abohar,Fazilka and Balluana tehsils of Ferozepur district. He said the government,which cannot reveal the names of Swiss Bank account holders despite a reprimand by Supreme Court,is not sincere to attack the menace of black money. Interacting with mediapersons after laying the foundation stone of a 30-bed community health centre being set up at a cost of Rs 5 crore in Wahabbala village in Balluana Tehsil, he said that most of the bank accounts belong to Congress leaders and all leads point towards 10 Janpath.
IGP Narinder Pal Singh passes away
Chandigarh: Narinder Pal Singh,who held the post of Inspector General of Police (Security),died on Tuesday morning. He was suffering from cancer. Singh,who was from the of 1992 batch of IPS,was promotee officer,he had joined Punjab Police as inspector many years ago. Singh was diagnosed with cancer about a year back and for the last about a week he was admitted in ICU in PGI as he was critical. He was cremated in his native village near Mahilpur in Hoshiarpur district in the afternoon.
