Renuka MLA dies of heart attack
Shimla: Veteran congress MLA from Renuka,Dr Prem Singh died of heart attack at his native village Mania Rajana on Friday – the day he turned 63. he is survived by his mother,wife,daughter and a son. A six-time MLA,Singh had already undergone a heart surgery a few years ago. He had arrived in Shimla two days ago to attend Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumals meeting with MLAs on 12th Five Year plan formulations and mid-term appraisal of the current five year plan.
He will be cremated at his native place in Dadahu village on the banks of river Giri Ganga.
Rehabilitate orphans: Himachal Governor
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Governor Urmila Singh said on Friday that effective steps should be taken for appropriate rehabilitation of orphans on completion of their education in the Children Homes in the state. She said this while presiding over a meeting of the Child Welfare Council. She suggested that all children homes run by the government and NGOs should be inspected to check irregularities and ensure rehabilitation of poor children.
Dhumal sents Rs 2 cr to Sikkim
Shimla: Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Friday sent a cheque of Rs 2 crore to the Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling from the CMs Relief Fund to lend support for speedy rehabilitation in the wake of the earthquake that rocked the state on Sunday. Dhumal also made an appeal to the people of Himachal Pradesh asking them to contribute liberally to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund. The money collected would be utilised for relief work in the earthquake affected region.
