Shimla: Somesh Goel and Amish Sud emerged as double net winners of state’s first-ever Chalet Naldehra Golf Tournament on Sunday after a day of action packed sporting event at Naldhera Golf Course. General Officer Commanding,ARTRAC,Lt General Suinder Nath,also won a prize. Justice Deepak Gupta of Himachal Pradesh High Court,gave away the prizes to 24 winners in different categories. Amrit Chopra,a Shimla businessman was adjudged as best dressed golfer. Amish Sood,who was also the organiser of the event,said the participation and enthusiasm among the players was a clear indication of Naldehra emerging as India’s most sought after golf course. The main winners were given a cash prize of Rs 21,000 and special gift package with two night and three-days’ stay at Chalet Naldehra,a tourism resort.

One files nomination for Hisar bypoll

Chandigarh: On the first day of filing of nominations for by-election to Hisar parliamentary constituency,Raj Kumar,son of Gopi Ram,a resident of Sir Chhotu Ram Colony filed his papers as an independent candidate. He has shown his moveable and immoveable property as worth only Rs 40,000.

Farm Darshan mela begins

Chandigarh: Farmers will be acquainted with new techniques in the annual two-day Farm Darshan Mela being organised at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) at Hisar on September 21 and 22. While stating this on Monday,CCS HAU Director of Extension Education and Coordinator of the mela,J S Dhankhar said that quality seeds of rabi crops would be made available to the farmers at stalls set up in the mela. Farm literature and bio-fertilisers would also be available at the stalls. Dhankhar said that the visiting farmers would be taken around the research farm and shown the bumper Kharif crops raised by the scientists with new farm technology.

Woman cop scales Kanglacha peak

Chandigarh: A woman head constable of Haryana police has successfully scaled the 20,160-ft high Kanglacha peak in Leh. Kanta Devi scaled the peak along with her guide Kiran Bahadur,a resident of Sikkim,a spokesman of Haryana police said on Monday.

Haryana to disburse pay on Sept 29

Chandigarh: The Haryana Government has decided to draw and disburse pay and allowances,pension and family pension for this month to its employees and pensioners on September 29. While stating this here on Monday,a spokesman of the Finance Department said that a decision to this effect has been taken in view of the bank holiday falling on September 30. October 1 and 2 being Saturday and Sunday respectively are also holidays in the state.
