SHIMLA: Following incidence of violence in local colleges,the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) on Thursday asked student organisations to observe the guidelines issued by the high court and maintain peace in the campus. The court had directed the university and Shimla SP to take all necessary measures for the purpose and keep a close eye on the situation. On June 29,it had reiterated its orders pertaining to the ban on holding rallies,dharnas and gheraos within 200 m from the library and putting up of posters on university walls.

Three CMO staffers under police scanner

Shimla: Three Secretariat employees have come under police scanner for allegedly forging letters and signatures of political leaders to take undue advantage of their positions. “A peon,who was arrested some days ago,provided a tip-off in this regard. Gradually,it reached up to the Chief Minister’s Office. The guilty will not be spared. It is a very serious issue,” said an official. Two of the officials,who have been summoned by the police,are Kishori and Padam Singh.

Amarinder hits out at Sukhbir Badal

Chandigarh: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday asked Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to spell out what kind of development he was talking about — “personal or that of Punjab?” Reacting to Sukhbir’s claim to make development the poll plank,Amarinder asked: “Tell us what kind of development you are talking about. Whether it is personal or that of Punjab,as there is a vast difference between the two. If Sukhbir is talking about his personal development,then he certainly scores 100 out of 100.”

Punjab to face paddy storage problem: CM

Bhatinda:Blaming Congress-led UPA government for not taking any steps to create new facilities in state,Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday said there was a likelihood that a major storage problem would crop up in the coming paddy procurement season. the CM said that despite repeated meetings with prime minister and the concerned central ministers on the issue,nothing substantial had been announced by Centre.
