Rhotak home: Deadline for CBI to complete probe ends
Chandigarh:An application seeking revival of a public interest litigation (PIL) demanding action against the guilty who had assaulted and sexually abused inmates of Rohtak shelter home was filed on Wednesday in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. On July 19,the high court had disposed of the PIL filed by Advocate Utsav Singh Bains handing over the probe to the CBI giving it two months to complete its investigation. An application has been filed on the ground that two months have expired and CBI is yet to chargesheet three of the 10 accused involved in the case. The application is likely to come up for hearing this week.
Woman with two kids jump in front of train
Jalandhar:A woman,in her 30s,along with her two kids jumped before a moving train near Tanda railway fatak on Wednesday afternoon and ended their live. Police sources informed that deceased woman Rajni along with her two kids,Soni,(6) daughter and Bablu,son (1) jumped before Shaheed Express at around 1.00 pm. She was under depression as one of her five year old son had died some time back after consuming of mosquito repellent liquid.
Her husband,Manak Singh,is a physically challenged. The family was living in Qazi mandi area. The people of the locality said that both husband wife were never seen fighting but today morning Rajni was beating her daughter badly. Government Railway Police (GRP) are still investigating case.
Mahila Cong lodges complaint against film
Jalandhar:The Punjab Mahila Congress leader lodged a complaint with Jalandhar police against film actors Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal for their film Oh My God’ (OMG) along with the producer,director and writer of the film for hurting religious sentiments of Hindus. State Mahila Congress vice president Nimisha Mehta,who has also sent legal notices to Akshay,Rawal and others,asked for the deletion of portions of the film and to tender an apology. In her complaint to the Commissioner of Police Mehta said that the film’s dialouge hurts religious sentiments of Hindus as,Hindu beliefs and practices have been insulted in the film. The complaint mentioned a scene where Paresh Rawal and other artistes are seen pouring a liquor-like liquid into a sacred pot (Gangajali),when a female artist questions “isme kya hai?” Paresh Rawal replies “Ganagajal hai”.
Delhi-Lahore bus develops snag
Jalandhar:The Delhi-Lahore bus developed a technical snag near Kartarpur,13 km from Jalandhar on Wednesday morning. A total of 11 passengers were travelling in the bus including seven women. Later when the fault could not be repaired a Punjab roadways bus was arranged to drop the passengers off at Delhi,said police sources.
Haryana notifies land pooling scheme
Chandigarh:In order to protect the interests of land owners,Haryana has notified the Land Pooling Scheme’ for development of residential sectors by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA). The Government has also notified its Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy (R&R) dated November 9,2010,whereby the interests of landowners are duly protected with provisions for floor rates so as to ensure payment of market linked compensation,and a number of benefits under the R & R policy,including payment of annuity for a period of 33 years.
