Four NCC headquarters soon in Punjab
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday said that the state government would establish four NCC group headquarter buildings at a cost of Rs 2 crore at Jalandhar,Patiala,Ludhiana and Amritsar. Additional Director General NCC,(Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh) Major General Mohabat Singh Virk has been told to identity the sites.
LIC pension policy for serving cops
Chandigarh: The Punjab Police on Thursday said that personnel who joined service after March 31,2004 would not be entitled to pension. Instead,a LIC policy has been chosen to ensure pension to such individuals in view of long term welfare of the families of police personnel,DGP PS Gill said. As per the policy,a person,who will deposit approximately Rs. 2,000 per month shall receive pension of Rs 23,000 on maturity,besides various other benefits of risk and death.
CHANDIGARH: Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has achieved a record power generation from its various power houses in the first quarter of the current financial year. It generated 3059 million units breaking the record of maximum production of 3051 million units in the first quarter set in 2007-08.
More Aarohi Model Schools in offing
Chandigarh: Haryana would set up special schools,called Aarohi Model Schools,in the educationally backward blocks of the state. Education Minister,Geeta Bhukal said the schools were being set up under a central government scheme aimed at creation of 6000 schools in the educationally backward blocks of the country. Thirty-six such schools have already been set up in the state.
Funds marked to fight flood: Minister
Chandigarh: The Revenue and Disaster Management minister Mahender Pratap Singh said that a provision of Rs114.25 crore has been made in the budget of 2011-12 for flood preparedness and compensation to the affected people in flood like situation. A sum of Rs.94.50 lakh has already been sanctioned as advance to the deputy commissioners in the state to take precautionary or relief measures.

Chandigarh: In a major jolt to the ruling Akali Dal,the Congress swept the elections of Agriculture Development Bank,Bholath. held here on Wednesday. Congress candidates won in five of the six zones,which were to elect directors of the bank.
