Army Chief inaugurates military hospital in Hisar
Chief of Army Staff,General V K Singh,inaugurated a Military Hospital in Hisar on Wednesday. Singh dedicated the 250-bedded hospital to the men in uniform and also to the veterans of Hisar and adjoining districts of Haryana and Rajasthan. The Military Hospital in Hisar is the 111th hospital of the Army. When fully commissioned the hospital will have nine specialities. It will also have a Blood Bank,an ICU and a Physiotherapy Department. Meanwhile,Lt Gen S K Singh,General Officer,Commanding in Chief,South West Command inaugurated the Dot War Memorial at Hisar Military Station. An army spokesman said that GOC Strike Forest,GOC Hisar Military Station and Senior Officer of Army and retired army officers of nine districts of Haryana were present on this occasion. The memorial has been constructed in the memory of those valiant soldiers who laid down their lives for their motherland.
Apply online for minority scholarship
Minority students in Haryana,eligible for Merit-Cum-Means scholarships,have been advised to apply online for scholarship at http://www.minority affairs.govt.in by using the user name and password of their institutes by July 31. A spokesman of the Technical Education Department in Haryana said the head of the institutions had been asked to guide the students to take printouts of the duly filled application forms,applied online,and submit the same along with all supporting documents to their respective institute,which would forward them with detail in the prescribed proforma to the Principal of Government Polytechnic for Women in Sirsa.
Foreign investment,NRI Cell on cards
The Haryana government has decided to set up a cell which will be known as the Foreign Investment and NRI Cell for attracting foreign investment in the state and the redressal of problems faced by NRIs of Haryana domicile. A spokesman of Industries and Commerce Department said that the cell would be located in Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation,which has been designated as the nodal agency for investment related matters. The Home Department will act as the nodal agency for addressing grievances relating to property,marital disputes,law and order,and other related social issues. The cell will also create a web portal Connect Haryana Forum to act as a single point contact for NRIs & PIOs.
Primary schools register hike in enrollment
Haryana primary schools have registered a marginal increase in gross enrollment ratio which reached 98.98 per cent in the year 2010-11 as compared to 98 per cent in the last academic year. The state is now aspiring to achieve 100 per cent gross enrollment ratio. This goal was presented at the 32nd meeting of the Executive Committee of Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad held under the chairpersonship of Haryana Chief Secretary,Urvashi Gulati here on Wednesday. It was also observed that the Gross Enrollment Ratio of upper primary level had also improved from 97.02 per cent to 98.04 per cent during the same period. The nomenclature of the Parishad was also changed from Haryana Prathmik Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad to Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad in the meeting.
PIL seeks probe into CPYTE recruitment
Seeking an independent probe into the functioning of Centre for Training and Employment of Punjab Youth (CPYTE) a public interest litigation (PIL) was filed on Wednesday in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Following this,a division bench comprising acting Chief Justice A K Goel and Justice A K Mittal issued notices to the Punjab government. The petitioner,Lajpal Singh Bains a resident of Ludhiana has raised eyebrows over the selection of six persons through departmental selection committee for filling of different posts in CPYTE in pursuance of an advertisement published on January 31,2010.
