A fine display by their bowlers enabled MCA,Mohali to an emphatic eight-wicket win over Green Field Cricket Academy and win the title in the First Hot Weather U-14 Cricket Tournament organised by Professional Cricket Club at The Banyan Tree School,Sector 48 on Sunday.
Taking advantage of the overcast conditions,MCA bowlers bowled a good line and restricted the Green Field batsmen to a low total.
MCA,Mohali won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their decision to bowl first in overcast condition proved to be a right one as Green Field Academy were restricted to a modest score of 95 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Jonty was the top scorer for the team as he played a knock of 27 runs off 34 balls while Sherry played a knock of 12 runs off 25 balls. Vikram was the other batsman who reached double figures. Vikram contributed ten runs. MCA bowlers restricted the opposition batsmen and did not give them many chances to score. Shubham claimed two wickets for 12 runs while Prabhav claimed one wicket for seven runs.
Chasing an easy target of 96 runs in the allotted 20 overs,MCA reached the target for the loss of two wickets in 18 overs. Ramandeep was the star of the day for the team as he played a fine knock of 51 runs off 37 balls. Ramandeep smashed the opposition bowlers all over the park and guided his team to win. Ranmandeep was ably supported by Arunam who played a knock of 32 runs off 28 balls. Both did not give opposition bowlers much chances to control the match and took the match away from Green Field. For the losing side,Major Singh claimed two wickets for 16 runs. Ramandeep was declared the Man of the Match while Sahil Sharma was declared as Man of the Series. Major Singh was declared the best bowler of the tournament while Arunam was declared the best batsman of the tournament.
