A day after the body of a 45-year-old man was found in a housing society at Derabassi, the police registered a murder case and arrested two persons on Wednesday. The accused were remanded in two-day police custody. Sharanjeet Singh of Gulmohar City was found dead in a park in his residential society on Monday morning. The police suspected that Sharanjeet Singh was murdered after his family had expressed suspicion about a man who was also staying in the same society. The Derabassi Station House Officer (SHO), Sub-Inspector (SI) Jaskanwal Singh, said that Sharanjeet Singh ran a mobile accessory shop outside the society and had taken some money from one Puneet. “On Monday night, Puneet, his driver Sanju, friend Rinku and Sharanjeet had drinks at Puneet’s house on the sixth floor. They had arguments over repayment of money. The accused then pushed Sharanjeet. They tried to take him to hospital but then discovered that he was dead. They all fled the spot,” the SHO said. Derabassi Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Darpan Ahluwalia said that they have arrested Puneet and Sanju, and the probe was on.
