After winning the mayor’s seat, BJP councillors are now eying posts in various committees of the municipal corporation.

BJP candidate Arun Sood won the mayoral elections held recently. Most of the councillors on Monday visited the office of newly appointed mayor Sood and reminded him of their recommendations for certain committees.

The BJP finally broke the consecutive eight-year run of the Congress and grabbed all the three posts of mayor, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor.

Apart from the BJP councillors, a few nominated councillors also met Sood to discuss the same issue. The election of the Finance and Contract Committee would be held on January 22.

“I have sent a note for the House meet to be scheduled on January 22 and then the members of the Finance and Contract Committee would be elected. The meeting of Finance and Contract Committee would be held in the last week of January,” said Sood.

Apart from F& CC, there are 14 committees. Except two committees, all of them have financial powers up to Rs 15 lakh.
