A Fortnight after the ruling SAD-BJP combine faced a drubbing during the parliamentary elections, former Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Bir Devinder Singh took up the cause of Mohali and Kharar Assembly segments with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday.Bir Devinder, who had represented the erstwhile Kharar constituency in the Punjab Assembly as a Congress legislator during Captain Amarinder Singh’s government, had joined the ruling SAD in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

In his first formal meeting with the CM after switching over to the SAD,Bir Devinder apprised Badal of how development took a backseat in Mohali and Kharar under the present regime. “Work on major development projects initiated during the previous regime is stalled, following which great resentment prevails among the area residents,” said the leader. He stressed that steps be initiated immediately to look into the matter and restart the project without further delay.

“The CM has assigned his Principal Secretary Darbara Singh Guru to immediately coordinate with the departments concerned to put the stalled projects back on track and thereafter call a joint meeting of all department heads to review the progress,” claimed Bir Devinder.
