The three-day conference shall be preceded by a one-day workshop on the theme of applications of radioisotopes in molecular imaging. Shivraj V Patil Governor of Punjab shall inaugurate the function at 5 pm in the English Auditorium on November 11.

The one-day workshop is focused on the applications of radionuclides in molecular imaging.

The continual increase in the advancement of molecular imaging facilitates the development of new imaging protocols by using newly-developed radiopharmaceuticals which are specific for imaging target organs.

“New modality like Positron emission Tomography (PET) is helpful in the early detection of cancer as well as in the assessment of response of chemo-therapeutic drugs in treatment of cancerous cells,” said D K Dhawan, coordinator,Centre for Nuclear Medicine.
