Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia issued a warning to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann while being taken out of his house in Amritsar after being arrested by the Vigilance Bureau Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau conducted a raid at his house in the city’s Green Avenue area. Vigilance officers then took Majithia into custody, and he is now being taken to Mohali for further questioning.

“Dear Bhagwant Mann, cheekan terian vi kadhvaun (I will also make you scream),” Majithia said as officers escorted him out of his house.

Reports said around 10 to 15 officials, including Lakhbir Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (Vigilance), arrived at Majithia’s house to carry out the raid.

There was high drama as the Vigilance team entered Majithia’s house.

The Vigilance Bureau has yet to issue a statement regarding the case or charges against Majithia.

‘Everything should be recorded’

Majithia not only filmed the officers but also questioned and confronted them on camera. In the videos he shared, he is seen repeatedly snubbing the team, demanding identification, and raising objections to their conduct.

The officers appeared unprepared when Majithia began recording. The team, led by Lakhbir Singh, and including at least two DSP-level officials, arrived at Majithia’s house, where he was present with his wife and children.

Majithia, holding his phone camera, asked, “Why are you in plain clothes? What are you doing here without a uniform?” He questioned the officers about their legal authority and objected to what he described as “trespassing.”

When one of the officers tried to proceed with questioning the household staff, Majithia interrupted. “Sit down and talk respectfully. Whoever they are, speak properly.”

When the officer insisted the team was conducting an investigation, Majithia replied, “You’ve entered my home by force. This is not the right way. Let the media in. Everything should be recorded.”

The officers requested him to stop recording, but Majithia instructed his staff to “record everyone”. “I want names and introductions.”

When an officer identified himself as a DSP from the Vigilance Flying Squad, Majithia said, “Anyone can claim that. Come in uniform next time.”

Several officials were heard addressing him as “sir” during the exchanges.

‘Forced your way in’

In another part of the video, an officer offered Majithia the option to keep his advocate and a few family members present, citing security concerns. Majithia responded, “What exactly are you doing here without a warrant and uniform? Introduce yourselves on camera.”

One officer said they had already informed his security team. Majithia countered, “We came from downstairs. Security told you I was upstairs. You forced your way in. You’re nervous, and you’re not following procedure.”

Meanwhile, Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal said the action against Majithia was a politically motivated move by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. “The Shiromani Akali Dal stands like a rock with Bikram Singh Majithia. It is clear that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his government are deeply rattled by Majithia’s bold and outspoken exposure of their corrupt and dark dealings,” Badal said in a statement.

“We have never bowed down, nor will we ever bow down,” he added.
