Myriad hues, varied expressions,a range of emotions and a plethora of colours are in abundance in the works of 26 artists, who have come together to create Inspired Expressions,a contemporary visual art exhibition. Curated by painter Rozy Kaur of Contemporary Delight, the exhibition, explains Kaur,is a result of an effort to get together the artists of different regions, styles and philosophies on one platform. Senior artists such as Prem Singh,Kavita Nayar,D S Kapok,Prabhinder Lall,RP Verma and Ravinder Sharma have been invited to showcase their works here . Singh creates an orchestration of intricate patterns in orange on canvas to create a harmony of form, while Nayar uses the lotus as a motif to convey the emotion in In my Womb. Kapoors City Scape,a digital print,is a work that depicts an uncluttered canvas of a green, calm space. Pathanias Composition is a thoughtful work which explores the question of self,as reflected via an image in the mirror. A painting within a painting, its a reflective canvas. Lals Environment, which has clean lines and the white on canvas creating space, depicts geometrical shapes signifying the character of Chandigarh is what. Vermas Time 4 Tea gets the real and the surreal together as happy images in earthy colours absorb attention. Sharmas Shakti Jagran with dark images that rise from within the canvas is a powerful painting.
The exhibition also comprises an interesting collection of sculptures and installation pieces. One of these,a work with mirrors that creates varied images,is quite striking. Basudeb Biswas works in bronze to create a couple dancing in harmony, while Manjot Kaur showcases her Untalkable Drawings.
her work.
The exhibition is on at Punjab Kala Bhawan,Sector 16,till September 24
