Better facilities for ESI beneficiaries

People covered under the Employees’ State Insurance Act would no longer have to purchase medicines and then run around for reimbursement.

People covered under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Act would no longer have to purchase medicines and then run around for reimbursement. Medicines can now be bought directly from the Sector-29 dispensary.

It was further decided to open three new dispensaries in Manimajra,Hallomajra and Sector 49/51 and an AYUSH (Ayurvedic Unanaiy Siddha and Homoeopathy) unit in the ESI dispensary in Sector 29,Chandigarh.

These were some of the major decisions taken during the meeting of the Regional Board ESI Corporation chaired by UT Home Secretary Ram Niwas on Friday.

Director Health Services,additional commissioner-cum-regional director,ESIC,UT assistant labour commissioner and presidents of the Chamber of Chandigarh Industries and Indian National Trade Union Congress were also present.It was also decided to provide a direct feeder electricity line to the ESI Hospital in Ramdarbar for uninterrupted power supply. The ceiling of Rs 2,500 towards the cost of a hearing aid will also be abolished.

Regional Director,ESI Corporation,Chandigarh,said that ESI has launched a project ‘Pehchaan’ for issue of biometric magnetic cards to insured persons for hassle-free service.
