A Brilliant hat-trick from Baljit Singh ensured Sikh Regiment Centre,Ramgarh,a nervous win as they started off their campaign with a 6-5 victory over EME Jalandhar on the opening day of the 26th All India Dashmesh Hawks hockey tournament being organised by the Hawks Club,Rupnagar in Rupnagar on Wednesday. It took SRC Ramgarh only eight minutes to take the lead. Baljit Singh scored a brillinat field goal to break the deadlock. However,the lead did not last long as EME equalised through Mandeep Singh in very next minute to make it 1-1. Though SRC Ramgarh once again gained lead through Gurjit Singh,EME restored parity through Munda to make the scoreboard read 2-2. In the later stages of the first half,Mandeep scored his second goal of the match to put EME up by 3-2. After the break,it was once again EME who made their intentions clear with yet another goal. Salman Henjen sounded board in the 37th minute to give EME a 4-2 lead. It was then that Baljit Singh led SRC Ramgarh fightback. He reduced the margin with a brilliant goal in the 42nd minute. A rejuvenated SRC side then levelled the match through Dhiraj Kumar. Now it was SRC Ramgarh who turned the heat on EME after taking a 5-4 lead through Jagjit Singh who converted a penalty. Baljit Singh virtually put end to the match as Baljit scored his third goal in the 65th minute. EME pulled back one in the dying minutes of the match but it was too late for them to make a comeback into the match.
