When two 21-year-olds,Sanchit Goel and Prateek Verma,sat down to crack the guy code,the result was a page-turner with a catchy title,The Bachelors Theorem (Cedar Books,Rs 150) . From life to love life,from desperate attempts at perfection to battling the demons of past,the protagonists of the novel go through it all and in the process,live a life that any college student would relate to.
The storyline revolves around two friends,Midhansh and Sidhesh,who belong to different backgrounds,and have to learn many a lesson as they go through life, says Goel,a BTech student at Krishna Institute of Engineering and Technology,Ghaziabad. The names of the lead characters are based on the writers friends,and the main storyline is inspired by events in the life of one of their acquaintances.
There is also a character called Ross Bachelor who pens a law titled The Bachelors Theorem,which states that there always exists a point in a persons life which sustains the potential of changing his present and future forever,irrespective of his beliefs and doings, adds Verma,who is pursuing
BE from Delhi College of Engineering.
If there are echoes of Chetan Bhagat,the young writers are clear about their role model. The idea of writing the novel was inspired by Chetan Bhagat who has given youngsters a new genre of writing, says Verma.
