The UT police on Friday filed a chargesheet in the case involving recovery of a SIM card from Congress councillor Devinder Singh Babla when he was being taken to the Burail Jail. The case was registered in January this year when a SIM card was found hidden in Bablas clothes when he was being taken to the jail in a case of cheating.
According to the police,the details pertaining to the SIM card were verified and the facts were included in the chargesheet,which states that Babla broke the SIM card when he was entering the jail premises on January 10. The card was recovered by a policeman on duty,and a case was registered under Section 353 of the IPC. The SIM card was later found to be in the name of a Hallomajra resident,Alok,who told the police upon inquiry that he had lost his SIM card and was unaware how it was found with Babla.
Babla has been booked in three cases pertaining to irregularities in the allotment of sheds in the grain market,cheating,forgery,and a case involving irregularities in a 2007 auction of a parking lot.
