A Continuing Medical Education (CME)-cum-Workshop on Laws applicable to hospitals,issues,challenges and possible solutions was conducted by department of Hospital Administration,PGIMER on September 26 and 27.
This was the 5th CME of the series conducted by the department in which some important laws related to hospitals were discussed and debated with around 120 senior hospital administrators,with varied experience from different parts of the country,in attendance. On the concluding day,the PC-PNDT Act,CLA (Abolition and Regulation) Act and the RTI Act were discussed.
Prof AK Gupta,in his presentation on Contract Labour Act,said that this law has been rightly enacted to prevent the exploitation of contract labourers. He further stressed that every hospital administrator should be aware of the intricacies of this Act since outsourcing was unavoidable in current times.
Dr RK Sharma and Dr Navneet Dhaliwal,Assistant Professors,Department of Hospital Administration spoke on RTI and the PCPNDT Act respectively. This was followed by a panel discussion and workshop in which practical day-to-day challenges encountered by hospital administrators were discussed.
