The Punjab Cabinet today approved the summoning of the 9th Session (Budget) of the 13th Vidhan Sabha from March 4 to 26.
Chief Ministers Media Advisor Harcharan Bains said the session would commence on March 4 in the afternoon with Governors Address and motion of thanks. Discussions on Governors Address will be held from March 8 to 10.
Obituary references will be made on March 5,budget estimates for the year 2010-11 would be presented on March 16 and the general discussions on budget estimates will be held on March 18,19 and 22.
The council of ministers also authorised the Chief Minister to approve the draft of Governors Address and forward the same to the Punjab Governor for final approval.
For setting up of Rajpura Thermal Power Project (RTPP),the council of ministers gave ex-post facto approval for mutation and transfer of 1078.16 acres acquired for the Rajpura Thermal Power Project in the name of Nabha Power Limited,a wholly owned subsidiary of Punjab State Electricity Board. The RTPP would be developed on BOO (Build,Own and Operate) basis.
The cabinet also gave in- principle approval to transfer of 70 acres in the Knowledge City,Sector 81,Mohali,to set up Indian School of Business on lease basis.
It was also decided to include two additional founder partnersHero Honda and Bharti Airtelbesides initial four partners namely Max India Limited,Bharti Enterprises Limited,Hero Corporate Services Limited and Punj Llyod Limited.
The revival of sugar mills under cooperative sector in Punjab was also given approval. The cabinet observed that due to high investments in the revival of the five closed sugar mills in Faridkot,Tarn Taran,Zira,Jagroan and Patiala and three distilleries in Gurdaspur,Nawanshahr and Nakodar,it is neither possible to run these mills in cooperative sector nor profitable to lease out,therefore,expression of interest should be invited by Sugarfed to run these mills on Build,Own,Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
It also gave nod for inviting expression of interest for selling out the plant and machinery of Budhlada Sugar Mill through liquidator.
It was decided to hand over the premises of Abohar Cooperative Spinning Mills to PUDA for development and its subsequent sale through open auction. PUDA would pay the sale proceeds to the liquidator,Spinfed and Mills,after deducting the expenses incurred on development/sale of land portion and to include the representative of the liquidator in all proceedings.
