17 arrested for gambling in Panchkula hotel
According to the police, on August 9, the Crime Branch of Sector 19, Panchkula, received a tip-off about a group engaged in card gambling inside a room at the hotel.

The Panchkula police has cracked down on illegal gambling activities and arrested 17 individuals, who were reportedly caught red-handed from a hotel room in Sector 5.
According to the police, on August 9, the Crime Branch of Sector 19, Panchkula, received a tip-off about a group engaged in card gambling inside a room at the hotel. Following confirmation of the information, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) Manpreet Singh Sudan directed a raiding team led by Sub-Inspector Ravi Kumar to take immediate action.
The team entered the hotel premises and caught 17 suspects in the act. Those arrested have been identified as residents of Panchkula, Mohali, Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Pinjore.
During the raid, police recovered nine decks of playing cards, Rs 81,000 in cash, plastic card holders, and other gambling paraphernalia. All the accused have been booked under Section 3(1) of the Gambling Act, 2025, at the Sector 5 police station.
A police spokesperson said the operation is an example of the force’s vigilance and commitment to maintaining law and order.
