Chandigarh:As many as three cases of vehicle thefts were reported on Friday. In the first case,Manjit Singh,a Sector 42 resident reported that his Tata Safari was stolen from outside his residence. In the second incident,Kuldeep Singh,a Mohali resident,alleged that his Indigo car parked in front of a house in Sector-30 was stolen. A case has been registered in the Industrial Area Phase-I police station. In the third case,Pradeep Kumar,a resident of Kajheri village alleged that his Honda Activa Scooter and a mobile phone was stolen from New Lake sector-42. A case has been registered in the Sector-36 police station. None of the accused have been arrested.
Rotary club appoints new heads
Chandigarh:The Rotary Club,Chandigarh Central appointed Mahesh Arora as president and Rajinder Singh Cheema as secretary,for the year 2012-13. The investiture ceremony was presided over by Chief Guest J S Bajwa,MD,Bajwa group of Companies and Sukhwinder Singh (Goldy) MD Gulmohar Group of Companies,at PHD Chambers of Commerce on Saturday.
Man held for assault
Chandigarh:A Ramdarbar resident accused a 18-year-old man of beating and outraging her modesty on Friday. According to the complainant,Roshni,the man Rakesh entered their house and misbehaved with her and when the mother daughter duo protested,the accused allegedly got violent and beats the mother. Rakesh was arrested.
Three held for theft
Chandigarh:The Chandigarh Polices crime branch arrested three Haryana residents in connection with general theft and burglary on Saturday. The accused: Ram Kumar,Narinder Kumar and Jaivir have been remanded to police custody till Monday for further interrogation. Police have recovered the articles worth Rs. 3.6 lakhs from them.
