Chandigarh: A 13-year-old boy was found after he had gone missing since afternoon. The boy’s father,Mithali Lal,a resident of Manimajra had approached the Chandigarh Police alleging that his son was kidnapped by two unidentified persons who had come on Saturday afternoon begging for alms. However,Mithai Lal received a phone call late evening from a lady who said she saw the boy in a train to Delhi. The lady then made Anil board a train to Ambala. Anil was later received from the Ambala platform.

Former Express staffer passes away

Chandigarh : Sourabh Sharma,a former staffer of The Indian Express who died on Friday,was cremated at Sector 20 in Panchkula today. He was 31. Sourabh is survived by his parents and two sisters. He was working with Times of India. Sourabh was a writer who displayed a remarkable sense of humour in his works,and is fondly remembered by his friends and colleagues at the Express.

Seminar to be held on childhood epilepsy

Chandigarh: The Department of Pediatrics,Advanced Pediatrics Centre,PGIMER is organising a one-day CME on childhood epilepsy tomorrow. The CME is targeted at physicians,paediatricians in practice,and postgraduate students and would focus on practical aspects of childhood epilepsy and dealing with common day to day problems in managing children with epilepsy. There will be video demonstrations and case discussions to make the workshop more practical and allow delegates to translate knowledge into practice.

3-day workshop on medicinal plants

CHANDIGARH: A three day workshop on “Medicinal Plants and their Uses in Day to Day life” concluded today at the Botanical Garden,Sarangpur,Chandigarh. Santosh Kumar,IFS,Conservator of Forests and Chief Executive Officer,Medicinal Plants Board,Chandigarh,was the chief guest and Jayshee Ardey Chauhan,IFS,Head Extension Division,FRI,Dehradun,was the guest of honour on this occasion. The three day Workshop was organised by the Medicinal Plants Board,Chandigarh in collaboration with the Van Vigyan Kendra (VVK) Programme of Forest Research Institute,Dehradun.

Business opportunity show organised

Chandigarh: In an attempt to increase entrepreneurship and job opportunities in UT and Tier II and III cities of Punjab,Franchise India in association with the MSME and Indian Franchise Associations started the Business Opportunities Show (BOS) in Chandigarh on Saturday. Over 50 brands from Tricity participated in the event and exhibited their business opportunities ranging across various sectors requiring a minimum investment of Rs 50,000. The show will be held at various places in the region in February.

Robotics contest conducted at Mohali

Chandigarh: The First Lego League(FLL) Robotic Competition was held today at The Millenium School,Mohali. The competition was organised by Techtronics Education with a central theme for this year “Food Factor Challenge”. Twelve teams from different schools of Chandigarh participated in this competition.
