The Punjab government has categorically stated that it was committed to completing the enquiry,into the collapse of the Shital Fibres building in Jalandhar,in a time bound manner.

The Punjab government has categorically stated that it was committed to completing the enquiry,into the collapse of the Shital Fibres building in Jalandhar,in a time bound manner. A spokesman of Punjab government on Saturday clarified that Anurag Verma,Commissioner,Jalandhar Division who was conducting this enquiry had to be sent a Phase III training of IAS officers as it was his last chance to go on training. He said that earlier,Verma could not be spared for training due to different government exigencies and if he was not sent on training now it would have affected his future promotion chances.

UPA letting grains rot,says Shanta

JALANDHAR: ACCUSSING the UPA government of widening the gap between the poor and the rich,national BJP vice-president Shanta Kumar on Saturday suggested that instead letting food grains to rot in godowns,the Centre should give the poor a six-months ration. Shanta,who was addressing the media persons in Jalandhar,said that once the ration for six months is distributed among the poor,the government can create space for fresh food stock and can save the money being spent on stocking this ration.
