Chandigarh Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly attempting to rape a minor in Bapudham locality on Thursday afternoon.

Juvenile held for rape attempt

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly attempting to rape a minor in Bapudham locality on Thursday afternoon. Police said the incident took place at around 4 pm when a five-year-old girl went to a nearby shop in the locality to buy a soap. The boy was detained by the locals and later handed over to the police. Police have registered a case.

Body found in Sukhna lake

CHANDIGARH: The body of 23-year-old IT professional Deepak Garg was recovered from Sukhna lake on Thursday afternoon. Garg,police said,had jumped into the lake on Wednesday. Police alleged that Garg had left his home on Wednesday after an argument with his family . “It is a suicide. But we did not find any suicidal note,” said a police officer.

Students’ clash,one injured

CHANDIGARH: A Class X student of Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 16,was injured when a group of students allegedly attacked him with sticks on Thursday afternoon. Police said that incident took place at around 1 pm outside the school,when Vishawjeet Singh,a resident of Sector 26,was allegedly beaten by a group of students. A case has been registered in Sector 17 police station.

Bank manager sent in judicial custody

PANCHKULA: An Indusland Bank manager has been remanded to judicial custody for allegedly selling stocks without informing its holders. A complaint was given to the police last year by Anubhav Singla,a resident of Sector 9 that Sandeep Singla,manager of Indusland Bank branch at Sector 11,allegedly sold his stock without telling them. As per the complaint,Sandeep was a tenant with Anubhav and his family. He allegedly got him and his family to open demat accounts with the bank. Without telling them,he allegedly sold their stocks worth lakh of rupees.

Woman killed,12 hurt in separate mishaps

AMBALA: A woman was killed and atleast 12 injured in rail and road accidents at Ambala Cantonment. An elderly woman,Mahrani,was killed after she was run over by a train on the Ambala-Saharanpur line near the Nanhera level crossing. In a separate accident at Jandli Railway Flyover, 12 people were injured when the three-wheeler in which they were travelling turned turtle after the driver lost control.
