Panchkula: District Courts on Sunday sent Gaurav Garg,who was allegedly impersonating a reporter,to one-day police custody. He was arrested on July 30 under Section 420 of IPC. A resident of Ambala,Garg was allegedly blackmailing food and supply officer Rajesh Bansal. As per the complaint,Garg had called Bansal and raised the issue of irregularities in the food and supply office. Bansal advised him to come to the office and make a written complaint. Garg came to the office of food and supply as a Bureau Chief of Manav Jagat newspaper. As per complaint,Garg indirectly asked for money in lieu of keeping quiet and not publishing a news item.

CHANDIGARH: The members of Students’ Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) organised a candle march on Sunday in remembrance of freedom fighter Shaheed Udham Singh. More than 100 students participated in the march.
