BSP names civic poll candidates

The Bahujan Samaj Party took the lead in announcing candidates for three wards for the forthcoming elections to the Municipal Corporation. The party will be fielding Deepak Sharma from ward number 21,S M Khan from ward number 19 and Manav Mehra from ward number 11. The announcement was made after a meeting held under the chairmanship of party convenor Haffiz Anwar-ul-Haq.

A number of workers from other parties joined the BSP. The party leaders stated that while the decision on these three wards has been taken,the other candidates would be announced in the coming days. Around 100 youth largely from Muslim Minorities joined the Congress Party today. President of District Congress Committee (Urban-1) H S Lucky said that the youth were mostly working in the IT services industry.

City school marks Prakash utsav

The Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji was celebrated with at Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary,Sector 40,today. The function started with the bhog of sehej path Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at 9.30 am. The school choir started the shabad gayan. The program moved on with kirtan by Raagi Jatha. Scholarships and academic excellence awards were given to various students. A scholarship worth Rs 100 per month was granted to 21 students from the economically weaker section.
