Cancer-affected children to get X’mas presents
Chandigarh:
With an aim to bring some joy to cancer-affected children,Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society will organise special Christmas celebrations for them at Advanced Paediatric Centre PGI on December 24. The event is co-sponsored by Guru Nanak Public School of Sector-36. About 100 children will be given gifts,which will be sponsored by Gurnam Grewal,principal of Guru Nanak Public School.

Students learn benefits of yoga
Chandigarh:
Amravati Vidyalaya of Amravati Enclave held a special session about yoga and its benefits on Wednesday. Dr Amrita,the chairperson principal of Brahmrishi College of Education,was invited to tell the students about acquiring good physical,mental and emotional health through simple yogic practices and meditation process.

Dy Commissioner inspects treasury
Chandigarh:
UT Deputy Commissioner-cum-Collector Brijendra Singh inspected Central Treasury on Wednesday. Singh inspected various records,including books of accounts,daily and monthly registers etc,besides inspecting the single lock and double lock of the Central Treasury. A physical inspection of the election material stored in the Strong Room of the Treasury was also carried out. Singh appreciated the innovations and changes brought in the Central Treasury under the supervision of the Treasury Officer Rajiv Tewari.

Hooda inaugurates Yojana Bhawan
Panchkula:
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda inaugurated the building of ‘Yojana Bhawan’ in Sector 4,Panchkula,on Wednesday. Spread over 2,158 square metres,the building came up in three years at a cost of Rs 8.65 crore and will have the offices of Economic and Statistical Analysis and State Planning Board. These two offices were functioning at two different places. While the office of Economic and Statistical Analysis was functioning from 30 Bays Building,Sector 17,Chandigarh,and the Old Estate Office building in Sector 19,that of the State Planning Board was functioning from the Haryana Civil Secretariat.

Mock fire drill held at RBI
Chandigarh:
A mock drill was held today at the premises of the Reserve Bank of India in Sector 17. The drill was held to check the alertness of various departments in case of an emergency. Teams from the Fire and Emergency Wing of the Municipal Corporation and ITBP personnel took part in the drill. After the terrorist attacks in Mumbai the fire and Emergency Services committee of the Municipal Corporation had decided that equipment including bullet proof jackets and headgear be purchased for the fire personnel. However,the same has not been purchased.
